Subscribe to the list
Subscribe to the LISP Alumni discussion list in these easy steps:
- Send your subscription message by e-mail to: LISTSERV@LISTS.WAYNE.EDU
- Leave the SUBJECT line blank
- In the MESSAGE text field: type SUBSCRIBE LISP_ALUMNI and your first and last name (e.g., SUBSCRIBE LISP_ALUMNI Jane Doe) - either upper or lower case is OK, but be sure to include the underline _ between LISP and ALUMNI.
- You will receive an e-mail confirmation that you have successfully subscribed.
Here is an example mail message for Jane Doe to subscribe to the list:
TO: LISTSERV@LISTS.WAYNE.EDU
SUBJECT: (leave this blank)
MESSAGE: SUBSCRIBE LISP_ALUMNI Jane Doe
Send a message to everyone on the list
To send a message that will be sent to everyone on the list, compose a mail message in your mail program. Include a subject so that readers know what your message is about.
Send the message to the alumni address: LISP_ALUMNI@LISTS.WAYNE.EDU (Be sure to put the underscore _ between LISP and ALUMNI)
NOTE: When you respond on a discussion list remember, replies are distributed to the whole list.
Here is an example mail message from Jane Doe to everyone on the list:
TO: LISP_ALUMNI@LISTS.WAYNE.EDU
SUBJECT: ALA?
MESSAGE: Is anyone else out there in Alumni-land attending ALA next month? If you're interested in splitting a room, call or reply to my e-mail address - not to the list. Thanks!
Jane Doe (see e-mail address in header)
Signoff from the list
You can signoff from the list by sending a SIGNOFF LISP_ALUMNI command to:
LISTSERV@LISTS.WAYNE.EDU
NOTE: Unlike the SUBSCRIBE command, the SIGNOFF command does not need your First Last name after the command. However, when you signoff from the list, your mail program should be set to send with the same e-mail address you used when you originally subscribed.
After you signoff from the alumni list, you will receive a mail message confirming that you were removed from the list.
Follow this example to signoff (either upper or lower case is OK, but be sure to include the underline _ between LISP and ALUMNI):
TO: LISTSERV@LISTS.WAYNE.EDU
SUBJECT: (leave this blank)
MESSAGE: SIGNOFF LISP_ALUMNI
Request help from a real person.
If you have trouble subscribing or signing off from the list, you can e-mail a real person for help.
Send your e-mail message to the 'list owner' - the actual person in charge of the list:
TO: LISP_ALUMNI-REQUEST@LISTS.WAYNE.EDU
Be sure include the underline between LISP and ALUMNI and the hyphen between ALUMNI and REQUEST. In your message to the list owner, be as specific as you can about your problem with the list.
